Giving the
Hope of salvation
To Chinese people
God has richly blessed the ministry of Light of Christ.
From 2000-2003, thirty-one adults and children have
been baptized. The congregation has 50 members. Average
worship attendance is 45 people.
Pastor Lau and the members of Light of Christ have set
a goal of increasing worship attendance and membership
by 30% in 2004.
Please pray that the outreach programs offered through
Light of Christ will lead to relationships which open
the door to sharing the Gospel.
One evening
a congregation member and Pastor Lau went out for home
visitation. They did not expect anything, except to
build a friendship with this new friend. As they talked
with him, however, they were surprised that he was
prepared to confess his sin and wanted to become a Christian.
Pastor Lau knew this is the work of the Holy Spirit.
He gave him a word of encouragement and prayed with
him. The man was invited to the adult information class
and was baptized on Easter
Sunday, 2003. He is now not just a friend, but also
a brother in the Lord.
Following the visitation, the congregation member and
Pastor Lau thankfully prayed to the Lord. They also
confessed their sin of sometimes looking at the ministry
of visitation as a “routine job.” Instead,
God had initially worked in our new friend/brother’s
heart so he would turn to God.
In
2006 Pastor Lau received a Call to California and Immanuel/Light
of Christ called Rev. Paul Shaw to further the mission.
