When the world feels heavy with injustice, Psalm 10 gives voice to our aching hearts: “Why, O Lord, do you stand far away? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?” The psalmist laments the boldness of the wicked, who oppress the poor, boast in their greed, and dismiss God as irrelevant. These words mirror our own struggles—when we see suffering ignored or evil seemingly unchecked. Yet, this psalm is not a cry of despair but a beacon of encouragement, pointing us to the unshakable hope found in Christ Jesus.
The psalmist’s plea shifts to trust, reminding us that God is near, even when He seems hidden. “But you do see,” the psalm declares in verse 14, “for you note mischief and vexation, that you may take it into your hands.” In Jesus, we see God’s heart for the afflicted most clearly. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Christ triumphed over sin and injustice, offering forgiveness and life to all who trust in Him. The cross assures us that God does not ignore the cries of the oppressed; in Christ, He has entered our suffering to redeem it. The risen Jesus is our hope, guaranteeing that the Father hears the groans of the fatherless and defends the humble.
Psalm 10 encourages us to cling to Christ in every trial. Though the wicked may prosper for a time, Jesus promises ultimate justice and restoration. When we feel overwhelmed, we can pour out our hearts in prayer, trusting that He who bore our sins will never abandon us. This hope, grounded in Jesus’ victory, strengthens us to endure, knowing that in Him, the afflicted find refuge and the righteous are upheld forever.
Prayer – Lord God, strengthen our trust in Your promises and keep our eyes fixed on Christ, who has overcome sin and brings true justice through His cross and resurrection. In Him we find refuge and hope. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
