Rev. Ronald Paul Hilmer was called home to Jesus on Sunday, March 3rd, 2019. He is survived by his wife Margaret “Maggie” Todd Hilmer, children Jonathan Hilmer, Lorri Hilmer Hackett, Jim Bone, Lisa Todd Van Buren, Andrea Todd Schneider and brother, Gary Hilmer. He was known as a loving grandfather, father-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many. He is proceeded in death by his parents Paul and Lorraine Hilmer, children Donald and Rebeccah Hilmer and wife Virginia (Bone) Hilmer.
Rev. Hilmer served at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Brussels, IL (1970-75), St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hardin, IL (1970-75), St. John Lutheran Church in Maryville, IL (1975-84), Lutheran Altenheim in St. Louis, MO (1984-96) and Lutheran Ministries Association (1996-2000). He received his BS in Education from Concordia Teachers College, River Forest, Illinois, and taught at Lutheran Schools for 10 years before completing a Master’s in Religion at Concordia Seminary.
Rev. Hilmer was also active in many organizations, including Lutheran Long-Term Care Chaplains, Speaker bureau – Alzheimer’s Association, Show-Me Lutheran Teens Encounter Christ (TEC), Oliver C. Anderson Hospital, and Lions Club just to name a few.

The visitation will be Thursday, March 7th, 3 to 7 p.m. at Meramec Bluffs and Friday, March 8th, 10 to 11 a.m. The Celebration service will be at 11 a.m. at Meramec Bluffs, Chapel of the Cross, 50 Meramec Trails Drive, Ballwin, MO, 63021. Interment Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
Clergy are invited to vest for the funeral.
