Costs Involved
YouthLead is all inclusive, just $75. This covers meals, lodging, and registration.
Who can attend?
High school Youth (Grades 9-12), generally youth who have shown some leadership potential, but all students can get something out of the retreat! Entire youth groups are certainly welcome, but you may also have a smaller group (like a leadership team) that would benefit from attending together.
Adults should attend as mentors and participate in our mentor training.
Does a leader need to attend?
Our hope is that all youth have a mentor from their church – either youth leader or another adult volunteer/staff member. If there are extenuating circumstances where an adult may not be able to attend, please contact Dan Kreienkamp ASAP. At the very least we the church will need to provide travel to and from the event.
Is this more like Peer Ministry Training (PMT) or Lutheran Youth Fellowship (LYF)?
We believe YouthLead is combining the best of both worlds with the kind of relational leadership training we had with PMT and connecting it to a wider vision of LYF (involving more youth across the state) than before.
What can youth expect at this YouthLead Missouri Event?
Our youth will receive practical training to help prepare them to be leaders in their own churches and community. “Motivated by Love” will walk our youth through learning to listen, ask, seek, share, invite, and encourage their peers as they share their faith. They will also learn practical skills like how to lead a devotion. Julianna Schults from LCMS Youth Ministry Training will lead the training for our youth. Our goal is to focus on growing in our relationship with Jesus Christ and our relationships with others with Christ at the center.
What can adult mentors expect from this YouthLead Missouri event?
Youth leadership is most effective when a youth has a mentor invested in their leadership potential. Mentors will work with DCE Ryan Pfendler to recognize and encourage youth leadership in our congregations and communities.
What kind of lodging will we have at Cross Pointe?
Cross Pointe Retreat Center has hotel style lodging. If you are bringing a group we will work to have your group in the same rooms. Some youth may end up rooming with another youth from a different church (same sex, youth from different churches will not share the same bed). Bedding and linens are supplied by Cross Pointe.
