Good News Network

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57

There is a problem when you watch too much cable or network news.  When we spend so much time watching all of the terrible things going on in the world, we can easily begin to forget the most important news of all – the good news of eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord.  When our minds engage more with the news of the world rather than the good news of Christ, we can forget that Christ has already won the battle.  A recounting of the good news and promises of God assure us that nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus, our Lord.

As we give thanks to God for clothing and shoes, food and drink, friends and family, and all manner of physical blessings, we also give thanks to God that He gives us the victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus!  This is the chief blessing for which we give thanks to God.  It also means that we do not need to live in fear or dread of what we hear on the bad news networks.  We are members of communities of hope and faith where good news is heard and sung every time we gather.  When we are sent out from our assembly as the holy ones of God back into the cruel world, we go with the assurance that the One who is in us is greater than the one who is in the world.

May God continue to fill your home with the sounds of victory, the songs of the faithful and the prayers of redeemed!  We have been made bold for life as the Church Militant because we know that Christ has conquered in the strife and that means victory belongs to the Lord and because of that we will one day become the Church Triumphant!  May God bless your giving of thanks for all of His gifts and for His Good News, the Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ!

Prayer - Almighty God, most merciful Father, you open your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. We give you most humble thanks that you have crowned the fields with your blessing and have permitted us once more to gather in the fruits of the earth. Bless and protect the living seed of your Word sown in our hearts, that we may always present to you an acceptable thankoffering with many fruits of righteousness; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Fraternally in Christ,

President Lee Hagan
