Peter T. Olson

July 26, 1974 – July 30, 2025

Peter Olson was born July 26, 1974, to David and Cynthia Olson, and passed away unexpectedly July 30, 2025. He was baptized and confirmed at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kansas City, Missouri, where he also attended Holy Cross Lutheran School.

After graduating from the Lutheran High School of Kansas City, Peter earned a bachelor’s degree from Concordia University Chicago. In 1997, he accepted God’s call to serve as a music, band, and choir instructor for Lutheran schools in the Sheboygan area. During this time, he also earned a master’s degree in music from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.

In 2014, Peter accepted God’s call to return to the Lutheran High School of Kansas City, where he also taught in several area Lutheran elementary schools. Through his immense musical talent and deep love of the Lord, Peter was a gift to every student in his music classes—whether in band, vocal, or handbell choirs. His many gifts enriched the lives of countless people.

Peter spent his free time helping others. He opened his heart and home to numerous international students during his time at Lutheran High. He was a tremendous cook, an extremely talented pianist, and could play a mean tune on his accordion. He cherished his time fishing and boating at the Lake of the Ozarks and brought joy—and a wry sense of humor—into every room he entered.

Peter is survived by his parents, David and Cynthia; brothers, Scott, Glenn (Judy), and John; nieces, Emily and Katie (Brandon); nephews, Christopher (Kinsey) and Nate; and great-nephews, Rylan, Graham, and August.

A memorial service will be held:
