Barbara L. Wollberg
July 23, 1952 – July 29, 2025
Barbara (Vogts) Wollberg, 73, died peacefully surrounded by family, July 29, 2025, after a long and hard fought battle with cancer, during which she showed immeasurable strength and positivity.
She was born July 23, 1952, in Canton, Kan., to Leroy and Ruth (Meyer) Vogts. She attended St. John’s College, Winfield, Kan., and graduated from Concordia University in Seward, Neb., in 1973 with a degree in elementary education. She spent the next 38 years passionately educating in the preschool and elementary students in Lutheran schools. She is remembered as a wonderful and dedicated educator to the more than 750 children who had the privilege of having her as a teacher.
She married Bill in 1981, and had a loving, long-lasting marriage until his passing in 2024. Together, they had three children together, whom they lovingly raised along with Bill’s two sons. Barbara’s true joy came from her family, whether it was spending time with her children, playing cards with her siblings, or having several of her 13 grandchildren piled on her lap reading stories. She will be remembered by all as a loving, devoted, caring, and strong wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and teacher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and her parents, Leroy and Ruth Vogts.
She is survived by her children: Jon Wollberg (Liz), Karen Crider (Matt), and Maggie Milner (Eric); her step-sons: Chris Wollberg (Erin) and Josh Wollberg (Michelle); her grandchildren: Maya, Zane, Benjamin, Abigail, Cameron, Andrew, Lillian, Della, Harper, Callie, Cora, Ellen, and Ward; as well as her siblings: Ralph (Cathy), Kathy (Dennis), Paula (Lohren), and Kevin (Terry); and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Aug. 1, 2025 at King of Kings Lutheran Church, Kansas City, Mo. A graveside service followed at White Chapel Cemetery.
