GARY A. SPIELER

December 10, 1948 – February 13, 2023

Gary Albert Spieler, 74, of St. Louis, Missouri, died Monday, February 13, 2023 in Cape Girardeau Missouri.

He was born December 10, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri to Fred and Margaret Schwarz Spieler.

Gary spent his adult life in ministry. From a two-room school in Victor, Iowa to a mission on the border in El Paso, Texas, and several suburban schools in between. He was called to ten different congregations in Iowa, Texas, Colorado, Illinois and Missouri. His goal at each of his callings was to serve God.  He served in the Missouri District as a teacher at Immanuel Lutheran School, Olivette, from 1973-1977.  He served in a DCE-Youth role at Concordia Lutheran Church, Kirkwood, from 1980-1984.  He served as Principal at Green Park Lutheran School, St. Louis County from 2010-2014.

Gary leaves behind his wife Cathy, his four children, and eight grandchildren who all know Jesus. He touched many people both adult and child with the message of salvation.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Dawes Spieler; three sons, Matthew (Lisa) Spieler of Frisco, Texas, Nathan (Brenda) Spieler, of Desoto Missouri, Andrew (Jennifer) Spieler of Friedheim, Missouri; daughter, Gretchen Spieler (Chester Prince) of Leander, Texas; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Margaret (Peggy) Minogue.

Visitation: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Memorial Service following at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Dehne officiating.
