“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever,” (Ps. 136:1, ESV). Psalm 136 is a vibrant hymn of gratitude, proclaiming God’s unwavering love through creation, deliverance, and daily care. Through every verse, we’re reminded that Christ embodies this enduring love, the heart of our faith.
Life’s trials—grief, doubt, or uncertainty—can dim our hope. Yet, Psalm 136 tethers us to the truth: God’s love, revealed perfectly in Jesus, never falters. The psalmist celebrates God’s mighty acts—forming the heavens and earth (vs. 5-6), leading Israel through the wilderness (v. 16)—each punctuated by, “his steadfast love endures forever.” This refrain isn’t just poetic; it’s a promise fulfilled in Christ. In Him, God’s love became flesh, walking among us, healing, and redeeming. The cross stands as the ultimate display of this love, where Jesus triumphed over sin and death, securing our salvation.
When fears overwhelm, look to Christ, who parted the Red Sea (v. 13) and still calms the storms of our hearts. His resurrection assures us that no trial is final, for His love endures forever. As believers, we’re called to trust this love and give thanks—not only for God’s deeds but for Jesus, our Savior, who carries us through every moment. Lift your voice in praise, for in Christ, God’s steadfast love endures forever, sustaining you now and always.
Prayer – Lord, Your steadfast love endures forever. Help us trust in Jesus and give thanks in every trial. Strengthen our faith as we rest in Your unfailing promises. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
