Beloved husband of Dawn McCracken (née Harit); dear father of Rebecca (Ryan) Sanft and the late Matthew McCracken; dear grandfather of Graham and Madison Sanft; dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, pastor, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Leona (née Hall) McCracken; his twin brother, Larry McCracken; and his son, Matthew McCracken.
McCracken graduated from Lutheran High School South in St. Louis, Mo., (1978), Concordia College in River Forest, Ill., (1982), and Webster University in St. Louis, Mo., (1984). He taught for 12 years in the St. Louis area before graduating from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, in 1998 with a Master of Divinity (M.Div.). He served as pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church in Lebanon, Ill., and was later called to Trinity Lutheran Church in Troy, Mo., where he faithfully served since 2004.
Visitation will be 4–8 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois Road, St. Louis, MO 63123 and then 9 a.m. Thursday, March 26 at Salem Lutheran Church, 8343 Gravois Rd., St. Louis, Mo., until the service at 10 a.m. Interment at Our Redeemer Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association or Trinity Lutheran Church in Troy, Mo.
