Rev. Leonard Poppe

The Reverend Leonard Bruce Poppe of Lincoln, Missouri was born on Oct 23, 1959 in Corpus Christi, TX to Clarence and Lucile Poppe.  He was baptized on November 22, 1959 and was confirmed on May 28, 1972 at St. John Lutheran Church in Corpus Christi, Texas.  On May 8, 1982 Rev. Poppe was married to Karin Hafermann in Gainesville, Florida.

Rev. Poppe graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana and faithfully served at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Columbus, Mississippi from 1987-2001.  Rev. Poppe also served the congregations of Zion and Immanuel Lutheran Churches in Lincoln, Missouri for 20 years (2001-2021).

He is survived by his wife, Karin; their daughter.  Jennifer (Billy) Loveday of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; their son Brian Poppe of St. Louis, Missouri; and their Granddaughters, Caralyn and Rosalyn Loveday.  He is also survived by a sister Edith (Craig) Damron, his brother Lester (Barbara) Poppe, his Mother-in-Law, Phyllis Hafermann, and Brother-in-Law, John (Julie) Hafermann, as well as many nieces and nephews.  Rev. Poppe was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lucile Poppe; his sister Peggy; and his Father-in-Law Henry Hafermann.

Rev. Poppe will lie in state August 25  8:00 AM – 8:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church.

Mask will be required to enter the church.
