Rev. Lloyd J. Hackbarth

March 21, 1936-September 11, 2020

Rev. Lloyd Hackbarth passed away on September 11, 2020 at the age of 84.  He was born on March 21, 1936 in Wausau, Wisconsin to Anton and Clara Hackbarth nee Engebrecht. He was baptized on April 5, 1936 at Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau, Wisconsin and later confirmed on April 2, 1950 at St. John Lutheran Church in Merrill, Wisconsin

Rev. Hackbarth married Iris St. Martin on August 21, 1960 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.  He is survived by his wife and their three children, Cynthia (Douglas) Fish, Jill (Alan) Kirk, and Joel Hackbarth; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Fish, Elizabeth (Daryl) Betts, Andrew Fish, Jonathan (Lindsey) Fish, Rachel (Christopher) Davis, Ashley (Brett) Zimmerman, Mikayla Kirk; and ten great-grandchildren.

Rev. Hackbarth was a graduate of Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota and Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri.  He was a Circuit Counselor, Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod; Board of Directors for Bethesda Lutheran Communities, Inc., in Watertown, Wisconsin; and Campus Pastor in Springfield, South Dakota and Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Missouri.  He was pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wentzville.  He was involved in many community activities including the Wentzville Rotary Club.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister and three brothers.

The family would invite all clergy present to vest in an alb and red stole while taking part in the opening processional to Lift High the Cross.  Please meet at 10:45am at Holy Cross to assemble before the service.  At this time, it is asked that all wear a mask.

The funeral service will also be live streamed for anyone who desires to participate that way.  The online stream can be found at www.hcross.com and will have an updated link on Wednesday morning before 9am.
