Rev. Mark Wenger Obituary

Rev. Mark Wenger
Sept 7, 1951–Sept 12, 2022

Mark Paul Wenger was born on September 7, 1951, in Boonville, MO to Rev. Gilbert and Elsie Wenger. He was born into a loving family of two sisters and two brothers: Kathleen Lenz (the spouse of Gale Lenz) of Boonville, Missouri; Geraldine Wegener (the spouse of Rev. Mark Wegener) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Rev. Timothy Wenger (the spouse of Kathy Wenger) of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin; and Rev. Dan Wenger (the spouse of Gale Wenger ) of Cleveland, Ohio.

Pastor Wenger graduated from St. Paul’s High School, Concordia, Missouri, in 1969; Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska, in 1973; and Concordia Theological Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, in 1981. Following graduation from Concordia University, Mark served as Director of Christian Education in Elk River, Minnesota, from 1973-1977. He entered the pastoral ministry in 1981 and served parishes in Canada, Missouri, and Kansas over a span of 36 years. During his retirement years, he served as chaplain for Beacon of Hope Hospice and as a visitation pastor for Timothy Lutheran Church.

On May 20, 1972, Mark and Patricia Miller Wenger were united in marriage and celebrated 50 wonderful years together. God richly blessed their union with five children: Jonathan Paul (deceased); Joy Marie Fulbright (the spouse of Matthew Fulbright ); Karl Luke Wenger (the spouse of Amy Wenger); Derek Mark Wenger (the spouse of Christa Wenger); and Bryce Matthew Wenger (the spouse of Jill Wenger).

Pastor and Mrs. Wegner have also been blessed with 8 beautiful grandchildren: Ava, Emily, and Isla Wenger; Fletcher and Milo Wenger; and Bruce, Elliot, and Esmarie Fulbright. Pastor Wegner had the privilege of baptizing all of them!

Pastor Wegner loved golfing with his sons Karl, Derek, and Bryce. During this year, he enjoyed two golf trips to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Payne’s Valley Golf Course in Branson, Missouri. He was an avid reader and an enthusiastic fisherman, especially in retirement years when he could go with his grandchildren.

“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6
