Jacqueline L. Loontjer

Sept. 27, 1947 – June 12, 2025

Jacqueline Louise Loontjer, 77, passed away on June 12, 2025.

Jackie was born in Dodge City, Kan., in 1947 to Jack and Dorothy (Leighty) Maskus. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; and her brother, Ken.

She is survived by her two children, Nathan Loontjer and Erin Pagel (Mike); siblings Stephen Maskus (Alisa), Gail Webert (Mike), Keith Maskus (Sue), Michael Maskus (Cathy); and sister-in-law Vicki Maskus (Ken). She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Jacob Pagel (Kat), Gary Pagel, Abigail Pagel, and Timothy Pagel; and one great-grandson, Nathan Pagel.

Jackie graduated from Concordia Lutheran College in Seward, Neb., in 1969. She and her husband, Wayne, began their teaching careers and became active church members at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Northville, Mich.. There, they started a family and built lifelong friendships.

In 1987, Jackie and Wayne accepted a call to serve at Calvary Lutheran School in Kansas City, Mo., where Jackie taught until her retirement in 2014. Even after retiring, she remained an active presence at Calvary Lutheran Church and School, as well as in the “Big Blue” condominium community in Brookside, where she had lived since 2010.

A funeral service was held on June 19 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Kansas City, with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery at Park Lawn.
