Rev. Dr. Ellis T. Rottmann entered into his eternal home on August 21, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Joyce (nee Kell), loving father of Jon (Cindy), Steve (Jan), and Kathy (Dale) Jensen, and proud grandfather of Stephanie Rottmann, Chris Jensen, and Kayla Jensen. He was preceded in death by brothers Garry, Ron, and David, and sister, Ruth.
Ellis graduated from Concordia Seminary on June 6, 1956 and was married to Joyce the next day on June 7, 1956. They prepared for and moved to rural Brazil to embark on his new career as a missionary. In 1962, they returned to the United States to continue serving the Lord. He served the Lord personally and professionally, from the time of graduation to the end of his earthly life. Ellis earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary on December 11, 1987.
Ellis had a love for the game of golf. He had the wonderful chance to hit a hole-in-one not once, but twice. The second time he did not have a witness, but the lady in the clubhouse asked who his witness was. He said “God”. She said “That’s good enough for me!” Ellis also was a big Cardinal fan, especially when they were winning! For many years, he was an avid fisherman and went on many fishing trips around the country including Canada and Alaska. In his life, Ellis was a kind, loving, and giving person, culminating with donating his body to St Louis University School of Medicine.
